Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: Great location just across from the Opera house and the Christmas market. Breakfast ends just before 10 at the restaurant so I kept missing it. Lots of restaurants nearby. Room was clean. Staff was very nice. This was the second time in a year that I had stayed here. The first time was excellent, but there have been a lot of changes to the hotel since my last stay.

Negative: As soon as I checked in to my room, it was VERY HOT. Probably 80 degrees. Getting too hot makes my vertigo kick in so I had to get the temp down quickly. Tried to use the electronic, digital controls on the wall, but it wasn't working so I went looking for help since the phone in my room didn't seem to work to call the hotel operator. The housekeeper thought the room was too hot too and she tried adjusting the controls and couldn't get them to work either so she went to get someone else to help. A nice lady in a suit showed up and she couldn't get the controls to work either so she unlocked my window so cool air would come in to cool the room. It was in the 40's outside. She said she'd send someone else to look at the problems (window wouldn't close once she got it open and the curtains wouldn't go up). A man showed up and tried to fix the window but couldn't. So my window stayed open day and night for 4 days and no one came to fix it. At night there were parties in the street, loud construction noises, cars, buses, motorcycles, people yelling, etc. so I didn't get a lot of sleep. Then when I tried to read, the lights would shut off every 20 minutes and I'd be in the dark. I had to get out of bed to get to the control panel to turn the lights back on. The motion sensor was too far from the bed so it couldn't detect me in the room no matter what I did. This went on for 3 hours (every 20 minutes get up and turn the lights back on). One morning the lights went out when I was putting on makeup in the bathroom. WHAT A MESS! My sister's room and my room had different options on the panels so I wondered if mine needed reprogramming. When I stayed here last Dec, it was great. This time--not so much!

Summary: Location is great but if there's a problem in your room, don't expect anyone to fix it.
